Saferide to Provide "Sweep Van" Halloween WeekendBy Alex Rice, President on Thursday October 27If you have ever gone out with your friends on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, then you have likely seen a Saferide van or two in your lifetime. Have you ever tried to flag one down? Much of the time, a van that is being flagged down is simply unable to stop - we have too many calls to service! Sweeping the StreetsSaferide will be "sweeping the streets" this Halloween weekend. One of our five vans will be dedicated to picking you and your group of friends up at random - without calling. There is no need to flag us down - this van will automatically stop and ask SU student pedestrians if they need a lift. The sweep van will be around popular areas such as New Zoo, University Village, and University Park looking for students (or groups of students) who are on-foot, and have not called Saferide for a ride in hopes that we can take you to your destination safer and quicker than you could have gotten there on foot. If this program works well, it will continue throughout the school year. Of course, we always welcome your feedback. |

Rock the Quad with SaferideBy Alex Rice, President on Thursday September 1Join Saferide employees and execs in the quad on Friday, Sept. 2! We'll be out there with music, games, snacks, and Saferide swag - all for your enjoyment! Come hang with Team Saferide between 11am to 3pm. Want to Work for Saferide? If you want to work for Saferide, it's a good idea to stop by Rock the Quad on Friday. If you speak to an exec or an employee before submitting an application, there's a really good chance of you being accepted. If you introduce yourself and seem like a worthy candidate, an exec may consider you a preferred applicant - which pretty much guarantees you a spot on our roster. If you have already submitted an app, come talk to us anyway! We can still recognize your name in the application system and look at your application first. Recently Hired? If Saferide just accepted your application, we advise you to come meet our team this Friday. You can speak with execs about the program, and gain some valuable insights from seasoned Saferide staff. |

Top Frequently Asked Questions
Why hasn't my ride come?
Saferide transports anywhere from 150 to 300 students on a typical night. That is 450 to 900 students each weekend! Things get busy and vans get backed up. Please be patient. Also, if you are not on the lookout for our van, they may attempt to pick you up, but pass by (especially if they have other calls to run)! Make sure you are waiting by a window or outside so you SEE the van when it comes.
Where can Saferide pick me up?
Saferide can pick you up from anywhere within our 2 mile radius except campus and the streets, and intersections directly surrounding it (such as Loblolly, W. College & Camden, Dogwood, etc.). This includes restaurants, bars, houses, and intersections.
How far from campus can Saferide pick me up / take me?
Saferide operates within a 2 mile radius of the Salisbury University campus. We make few exceptions for students in dire need of a ride outside of our boundaries.
How long do I have to wait for a ride?
Typically, you will receive a ride within 30 minutes of calling. And due to recent dispatch improvements, ride waiting times have been reduced. So keep an eye out for us!
